About the Database
This database presents papyrological evidence of the Karanis tax rolls, documenting over 6,500 transactions that represent payments from over 600 individuals to the Karanis taxman (such as for pig tax and poll tax). Information is recorded on the date and value of the payment, the identity of the payer and the recipient, and the type of tax. The database was compiled by Alan Bowman.
